Portugal start Euro 2024 with win over Czech Republic
Late goal from Francisco Conceicao secures victory
Portugal fought back from a goal down to beat Czech Republic in their Euro 2024 opener, with Francisco Conceicao scoring a late winner.
The Czechs took the lead in the first half through Patrik Schick, but Portugal equalised in the second half through Diogo Jota. Conceicao then scored the winner in the 89th minute to give Portugal a winning start to their campaign.
Portugal are now top of Group A, with Czech Republic in second place. Portugal will next face Spain in their second group game on Sunday, while Czech Republic will face Switzerland.
