Software-Controlled Preamps Now Available for Linux
Focusrite dropped exciting news last week with the release of their 4th Generation Solo 2i2 and 4i4 devices. The 4th Gen 2i2 and 4i4 have software-controlled preamps which I can now control from Linux including the auto-gain. This is a huge improvement over the previous generations of Scarlett interfaces, which required users to manually adjust the gain knobs on the front of the device. With the new software-controlled preamps, users can now adjust the gain from their computer, making it much easier to get the perfect level.
Alsa-scarlett-gui Adds Support for Focusrite Vocaster One and Two
In other news, the alsa-scarlett-gui project has added support for the Focusrite Vocaster One and Two. This means that users of these interfaces can now control the gain, phantom power, and other settings from their computer. This is a great improvement over the previous method of controlling these settings, which required users to use a physical knob on the front of the interface.
