Stellantis to Assemble Leapmotor EVs in Europe
Deal Finalized, Production to Begin Soon
Stellantis, the world's fifth-largest automaker, and Chinese electric car manufacturer Leapmotor have finalized the establishment of their joint venture. The partnership will enable Stellantis to assemble Leapmotor EVs in Europe.
Italy as Production Hub
Leapmotor's first European car plant will be located in Italy, with production expected to begin soon. The Rome plant will assemble up to 150,000 low-cost EVs annually.
Sales Boost in China
The partnership aims to boost Leapmotor's sales in China, the world's largest automobile market. The venture will leverage Stellantis' established dealer network and manufacturing facilities.
Initial Shipments to Europe
Carmaker Stellantis has already shipped the first batch of electric vehicles produced under the joint venture with Leapmotor to Europe. These vehicles are expected to go on sale in select markets soon.
