Hurricane Beryl Makes Landfall in Texas

Landfall near Matagorda, Texas

Hurricane Beryl has made landfall on the Gulf Coast of Texas near Matagorda, the US National Hurricane Center said on Monday. The storm is now moving northwest at 10 miles per hour and is expected to bring heavy rain, flooding, and tropical storm-force winds to the Houston region in the next 24 hours.

Residents in the affected areas are urged to prepare for the storm and heed any evacuation orders. The National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm warning for the Texas coast from Sargent to High Island and a hurricane warning for the Texas coast from High Island to Port Aransas.
