Bowman Calls Out GOP Walkout During Capitol Riot
Bowman: "They Should Be Processed Under the Law"
Congressman Jamaal Bowman is directly calling out Republican members of Congress as they walk out of the Capitol building right now.
Bowman, a two-term congressman from Westchester County, New York, took to Twitter to express his outrage.
"This is a disgrace," Bowman wrote. "These members of Congress are walking out on their duty to uphold the Constitution and protect our democracy. They should be processed under the law as anyone else would be."
Bowman's comments come as a growing number of Republican lawmakers are refusing to participate in the House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol.
The committee is investigating the events leading up to and including the January 6th riot, in which a mob of Donald Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Bowman is one of the few Democratic members of the committee. He has been a vocal critic of the Republican Party's handling of the January 6th riot, and he has called for those responsible to be held accountable.
In his tweet, Bowman said that the Republican members of Congress who are walking out of the Capitol building are "walking out on their duty to uphold the Constitution and protect our democracy."
He also said that they "should be processed under the law as anyone else would be."
Bowman's comments are a clear indication that he believes that the Republican members of Congress who are refusing to participate in the January 6th committee are guilty of wrongdoing.
