Thursday, September 14, 2023: Today, on what would have been Amy Winehouse's 40th birthday, her ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil has spoken out about the tumultuous period they shared together.
Reflecting on their relationship, Fielder-Civil acknowledges making significant mistakes. "I didn't treat Amy right. I was selfish and addicted," he admits. "I introduced her to heroin, and that was the biggest mistake of my life."
Despite their struggles, Fielder-Civil recalls a brief period when they spent time in St. Lucia and rehab, during which Amy began to realize the toxicity of their marriage. "She started to see that our relationship wasn't healthy," he says.
However, their separation and eventual divorce in 2009 did not completely resolve their issues. Fielder-Civil admits to feeling a sense of accountability for Amy's subsequent decline and tragic death in 2011.
In an interview with Good Morning Britain, Fielder-Civil expresses regret for his actions and the pain he caused Amy. "I don't think people around Amy - people that loved Amy - her family, can ever forgive me," he says.
